Praise Rolling In For New Wolvhammer Album

The new album from Wolvhammer, Blackmarketeers of World War III, was released this past Tuesday by Init Records and despite being less than a week old, has already been showered with praise by some impressive press outlets!  Here’s what some have had to say about this incredible debut:

“My favorite record store is without a doubt Aquarius in San Francisco.  I’ve never looked at their new arrivals list or perused their shelves without finding some off-the-wall shit that I may never have heard of before.  Whether it’s Tazmanian ambient drone, isolationist black metal psych-folk, or garage punk from some former Soviet country that no longer exists, they’ve got the nerdy weirder-than-thou thing on lock.”

We’re getting 2010 started on a good foot with a great first batch of new releases for the year!  The following titles are all out today:


THE BOUNCING SOULS GHOSTS ON THE BOARDWALK CD

In 2009, The Bouncing Souls celebrated our 20th anniversary as a band by releasing a new song on the first of each month throughout the year, via digital download. We also pressed these songs onto a series of 7″ vinyl records which we sold everywhere we went on a year-long world tour. Here finally, we’ve gathered those 12 songs into a complete collection.


BATTLEFIELDS ENTOURAGE OF THE ARCHAIC 12″
INIT RECORDS
This limited edition vinyl release is a one-sided 12″ of the Entourage Of The Archaic EP, originally released as a limited edition CD available only via mailorder and tour. One time pressing on colored vinyl packaged in a screen-printed heavy plastic sleeve and hand-numbered. Includes a digital download card. There will only be 300 pressed – 100 will be sold on tour by the band, 100 will be offered for sale on the Init Records website, and 100 will be offered to stores and distributors through the ILC!


THE BOUNCING SOULS 20TH ANNIVERSARY: VOLUME 4 7″

2009 is an important and busy year for NJ natives, The Bouncing Souls. They are celebrating 20 years of vibrant, heartfelt punk rock, with plenty of special treats in store for fans old and new. It was almost 16 years ago that The Bouncing Souls put out their first album on their very own Chunksaah Records, and in a true return to the DIY spirit in which they began, The Bouncing Souls are self-releasing a new 7″ every third month of 2009 on Chunksaah! 2009 is not only a celebration of The Bouncing Souls 20 years as a band, but also a great big “thank you” to all the True Believers who’ve joined their ranks along the way.


FORENSICS YOU DON’T HAVE TO WIN, BUT YOU HAVE TO FIGHT CDEP

After five comfortable years beneath a damp, mossy rock, Virginia’s FORENSICS re-emerge to put forth their first widely-available studio release since 2004’s “Things To Do When You Should Be Dead Anyway” full length CD/LP.

While various 7″s, micro-limited CDs, and other detritus documented a lengthy period of experimental sonic exploration and recording techniques since the full length, “You Don’t Have To Win, But You Have To Fight” captures the band in full-stacked glory once again. Harnessing the heaviness and left-hand dexterity of “Things…,” the newest EP finds FORENSICS now incorporating sheets of tectonic, shoe-gazing tremolo atop far more traditional song structures than previous output, anthemic vocal harmonies, and huge choruses.

Tracked by John Morand (LaBradford, Sparklehorse, Strike Anywhere), mixed by John Congleton (Black Mountain, This Will Destroy You, Explosions in the Sky), and mastered by Nick Zampiello (Isis, Cave In, Doomriders, Converge), “You Don’t Have To Win, But You Have To Fight” paints a vivid rendering of a band getting back on the horse and appreciating the whole thing now more than ever.


THE MENZINGERS HOLD ON DODGE 7″
RED SCARE INDUSTRIES
After their promising debut on Go-Kart in 2007, these Pennsylvanian troublemakers are finally old enough to drink and ready to join the Red Scare ranks. This five-song EP is made up of throaty melodies, catchy singalongs, and lots and lots of guts. Expect to hear a lot from these punk phenoms… or at least receive a prank phone call in the night.

Noise By Numbers hail from Chicago, IL. Featuring Dan Vapid from Screeching Weasel, Methadones, and The Riverdales on lead vocals and Neil Hennessey from The Lawrence Arms on Drums. This is the debut release for this Chicago four piece that finds it’s influence from 80’s and early 90’s punk. Bands like Hüsker Du,Naked Raygun, Seam, and yeah.. you get the idea.

The band’s unrelenting commitment toward creating the greatest party/show ever has completely won over both the BMX and skateboarding communities, with promoters often flying the band around the country for special one-off engagements and premieres.

RORSCHACH Remain Sedate/Protestant 2XLP & CD. This repressing contains both classic records from this genre defining metalcore band. Both albums have been remixed and remastered. The vinyl is 180gram audiophile vinyl limited to 1000 individually numbered black vinyl copies with dropcards. The CD is an 8 panel digipak also limited to 1000 individually numbered copies.


SKIP HELLER LUA-O-MILO CD
DIONYSUS RECORDS
Skip Heller is the true heir-apparent of exotica, having been mentored by legends Les Baxter and Robert Drasnin and his work with Yma Sumac, Korla Pandit, and many others. His work as a film and TV composer includes stints with Dexter’s Laboratory, The Flintstones, The Bernie Mac Show, and several Disney TV programs. “Lua-O-Milo” (Hawaiian for “isle of darkness”) is the first time Heller has gone all-out exotic for an entire disc, and what a voyage it is, a sort of tiki noir tribute to Baxter and Drasnin, but with touches of everything from film noir to Wall of Voodoo. Featuring a diverse cast of musicians including Robert Drasnin and X drummer DJ Bonebrake, “Lua-O-Milo” is likely the most significant exotica disc by a new artist since the genre’s Kennedy-era heyday.
